love mercifully, act
justly, walk humbly with your God |
St. David's takes to heart the mandate of Christ to "love one another as I have loved you." Using this as our great commandment and following our baptismal covenant we thus aim "to seek and serve Christ in all persons" and "to strive for justice and peace among all people."
Saint David's has two missional objectives related to outreach:
X To equip a Christian body to carry out the promises made in the Baptismal Covenant
X To promote justice, celebrate diversity, and build community
To these ends, we advance a number of interconnected issues related to economic, racial, & gender justice, domestic & international peace, and human rights through education, advocacy, community organizing, and direct participation. Moreover, we will promote justice ministries, both domestic and global, by providing resources, offering guidance, sustaining networks, and organizing parish activity.
Some of this promotion, activity, and advocacy includes work at or involvement with:
X Talbot House (a local and homeless shelter and eatery)
X P.E.A.C.E. the Polk Ecumenical Action Council for Empowerment
X Habitat for Humanity
