Choir (& other music)
The Saint David's Adult Choir is a congregational choir with the purpose of leading the worshipping community in sacred song. This group of talented musicians sings for the 10:30 am Sunday liturgy and for various other feast days throughout the year. While still offering a substantial challenge, the level of music is comfortable for a wide range of singers.
New members are always welcome. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:30. Any musicians willing to share their talents are welcome to speak with the music director.
Director of Music, Bob Zahner
Acolytes
The Acolyte (from the Greek akolouthos) is one who is a helper or an attendant at the liturgy. At St. David's, the acolyte assists at worship by processing the cross, carrying the torches, attending to the gospeler, and assisting in setting the altar.
Baptized children, ages 9 and older are welcome to attend to this ministry. If interested, contact the church office.
Director of Acolytes, Linda Metts
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild of St. David's consists of a group of women appointed by the Rector who serve as "God's housekeepers" and offer up their work as an offering to God, to whom nothing but the best can be given. The Guild serves the Rector and St. David's in a range of responsibilities, including: the maintenance of the altar & associated furninshings, the care of linens, vestments, vessels, and other worship supplies, the coordination of flower dedications, and service at special occasions such as Christmas & Easter and Weddings & Funerals, among others.
Directress of the Altar Guild, Janet Tucker
Lay Eucharistic Minister
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) are licensed by the bishop to administer the consecrated elements of the Eucharist. LEMs may be licensed to administer the consecrated bread and wine at celebrations of the Eucharist when the number of communicants demands assistance. They may also be licensed to go from a Eucharist to share the sacrament with members of the congregation who were unable to be present at the celebration because of illness or infirmity.
Director of LEMs, Karen Johnson
Lector (Reader)
From the Latin term meaning "to read, " the Lector is a person trained in reading the scripture, lessons, and/or prayers of the people during public worship. Such people are appointed by the rector and are different from the ministry of Lay Reader, who is licensed by the bishop to lead public worship under the direction of the member of the clergy in charge of a congregation.
Director of Lectors, Karen Johnson
Greeter
The Greeters performs a special and needed ministry as the one who can show hospitality and welcome visitors and members alike - noticing, greeting, and helping as needed. In addition to welcoming, ushers at St. David's are responsible for handing out worship bulletins, taking the offering, and clearing the pews after service.
